Harry Potter Dictionary

I am going through the Harry Potter books and writing definitions for any non-muggle words I find. I will also add words from lessons which do not appear in the books.

I will include spells, objects, places, potions, ingredients, animals, plants and historic people.

Feel free to use this dictionary if there are any words in your lessons or on this website that you do not understand or do not know the meaning of.

Chapter 12

Leaky Cauldron - Pub with entrances in both the muggle world (London) and wizarding world (Diagon Alley). Muggles do not notice it and see only a broken down shop. To access Diagon Alley, one must go into the courtyard and tap the bricks in the wall.

Levitation Charm - Wingardium Leviosa. Wand movement: swish and flick. Allows the caster to control the vertical and horizontal movement of an object. Height is less of a restriction, but levitating something far away can be difficult. Allows people to lift heavy objects.

Liquorice Wand - A wizarding sweet, presumably liquorice shaped like a wand.
