Entry 3: Classes
Chapter 3
Dear Diary,
Well, diary, I have been to three classes so far. Charms, Herbology, and Potions. I like all of them loads more than I thought I would. Especially Herbology. I'm not really one for plants and I did have a bit of a scuffle when I nearly knocked over a teething something-or-other with my crutches. That would have been embarrassing. But Professor Tudor was lovely about it, just gave me a bit of a smile and didn't say anything.
Anyway, I'm sure you want to hear more about my classes than silly little things like that! Well, in everything, it was more of an introduction than anything. In Charms, we have to keep a journal every week about the spells we've gone over. It sounds like it will be rather helpful to me. I'm looking forward to it!
We also went over some charms! Primarily the Wand-Lighting Charm and the Wand-Extinguishing Charm. Lumos and Nox. I've been practicing it all evening and my wand goes white. I'm sure I'll manage to make it yellow soon!
Herbology was mainly going over the rules and basic equipment. Good thing I've got it all! Alysee sits next to me, which is a relief. I can help her with her English, and she can help me with the plants! She knows more about how to take care of them than I do, that's for sure. I never thought about it before, but it's not a surprise that magical plants exist. I think I've even seen some of them before. This class is going to be fascinating.
As is Potions, I think, much to my surprise. I thought it was much too much like Chemistry for me to enjoy it properly. And it is like Chemistry, diary, don't get me wrong. Same talk about compounds and mixtures and solvents, all that sort of thing. But somehow when magic is involved, it makes everything more exciting.
Oh well. I think I'm going to go and finish my homework, diary. There's a bunch of us, out in the common room. It's nice being in Ravenclaw, knowing that I'm not going to be mocked for being too studious! Or for having all my homework done the first night.
Until later,
Faelyn
