The Wand
Chapter 4
Wand Length: 10 inches
Wand Flexibility: slightly springy
Wand Wood: Acacia
Wand Core: Re'em Horn
The day I gained my wand, was a dreary day. It was all grey skies and endless drizzles. I instantly regretted having to shop alone. It wasn't my fault my magical parents never came to meet me. It wasn't my fault my adoptive parents were muggles. I sighed and hugged my coat tighter around me. I had my books and my clothes and little Frightening curled over my shoulders, his tail tickled the ear closest to his head. The little dragon obviously wasn't noticed while there were other strange pets around. My thoughts wondered for a moment and abruptly stopped as i noticed a shop directly in front of me. Ollivander's wand shop. This made me deeply thankful for everything being so conveniently located.
Ducking inside there was an air of seriousness. I instantly quieted and looked around at the aweing size of the store and slowly turned to look around. Just when I was facing the door again, a voice reached my ears from right behind me.
"I remember your father." it said and i whipped around to face an old smiling man with unnervingly bright eyes. "Cherry wood. 12 inches. Whippy. Dragon Heart string." he continued and stared down at me until I squirmed and said,
"I've come for a wand..." but I was cut off as he continued,
"Of course, I met your mother too. She cracked her wand, it was an heirloom of birch and unicorn hair. It took a bit to fix but it was wonderful to have her. Now lets find you a wand." he said and headed into rows and rows of wands, pulling out one and putting it back before pulling another and placing it into my hand, "Rosewood with a Phoenix feather core, 9 inches..." as soon as i had it set in my hand, he ripped it from my grip and searched more curiously for my idealistic. "Alder with dragon heart string..." he continued and placed it my palm and hmmmed before dancing away,
"Excuse me but we've been at this for an hour." i said after awhile. Technically it had been two but i didn't want to be rude. Ollivander then came clanking from an old basement he had,
"You are lucky I remembered I had some rare cored wands. You are a interesting girl, Amanda." he wagged a long slender finger at me and pulled a long 10 inch wand, and I identified it as acacia wood from my constant studying. "This is a very old wand, Amanda, lets see..." he handed it gently to me and a soft breeze spread through the room and light bloomed like a flower at its tip. Ollivander clapped in delight and patted my shoulder,
"I knew it might be the case! This is a very, very rare core, seeing as you are a very special witch in the future." he said and plucked the wand from my finger tips and placed it in its box. I felt the loss instantly, like he has taken a piece of me away,
"What core is it then?" I gasped after my hand flew to my chest,
"Golden Re'em horn. The creature is older then the Bible itself." he said and handed me the box. "I'm honored to meet such a powerful witch like yourself." he said patted my head, "I will remember you. 10 inches, acacia wood, slightly springy, Re'em horn!" he said and that ended that.
