Lesson 1: Introduction To Charms
Chapter 1
Notes
In this lesson, we learn about Modern-day spell casting.
- The
first instance of dedicated wand making was the Olivander family in 382
BC. In 1000 AD, wizards partially separated from the muggle world and
were ruled by the Council of Warlocks for 400 years. In the 1400s,
various magical governments were established based on culture and
locations. In 1689, the International Statue of Secrecy was established
and there was a complete separation of magic and non-magic worlds. In
1875, the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery was
established. Under it, all witches and wizards under the age of 17 has a
trace put on them. There is only 3 exemptions to this Decree. Magic may
be used to protect the life of ones self, to protect the life of
another person (magical or not), and when in one's home. However, use of
magic at these times must be done cautiously. Penalties are high if
used inappropriately or in front of muggles when at home. Wands are a
wooden shaft containing a core from a powerful magical creature. They
are used to direct our power.
