Charms, Charms & More Charms
This is my personal journal for Year 1 Charms class. I've decided to publish it so others have an example of a well kept journal, as well as an interesting story to read.

Lesson 6 - Wingardium Leviosa & Astrictus
Chapter 7
Todays class focused on willpower. This is the strength that we can push our magic to when performing a spell. When can push our magic to the limits we can make our spells stronger. Though, most of the first years can't push their magic too far yet. The teacher has tasked us with practicing our willpower on two spells. This way we can improve our strength.
The first spell I had to practice was one we had already visited, the Levitation Charm. David and I were in my dorm room so that there would be less distractions. I had already tried casting the charm a few times on heavier objects, but it was difficult to focus my magic with David around. He was constantly making silly faces to distract me and driving me to giggle fits. Even when I looked away from him, I could see the faces he'd make in my mind. I eventually got the spell to work, though it was only through true determination. Wingardium Leviosa. The swish and flick motion felt natural since I had performed it so many times. I focused on my magic as I said the words, mentally pushing myself to my limits. The brick I focused on started to float. I pushed myself farther as I directed it upwards, but it was too much. The brick fell to the floor.
But, I knew I was improving already. It was time for the other charm we had to perform. This charm would stick together two things. David had brought a sketch he drew of us for me to stick to my wall. He let me focus as I worked through this spell. The motions were much easier, as I had drawn the infinity symbol many times before with my pencil. I just needed to line the objects up properly so my wand motions would cross at the right time. I focused on sticking the object to the wall and pushed myself to make the magic do so. Astrictus. The paper lifted itself and stuck onto to the wall. It lasted longer than the effects of the Levitation Charm, but I had stuck the paper on backwards. Ooops.
I turned to David as he worked on the Levitation Charm behind me. His wand movements were natural, like he never doubted himself. His voice was soft as he lifted the brick over and over. I could feel myself lost watching him. Was I jealous of his spellcasting ability? No. I was talented as well, but something couldn't help feeling different.
