Charms, Charms & More Charms
This is my personal journal for Year 1 Charms class. I've decided to publish it so others have an example of a well kept journal, as well as an interesting story to read.

Lesson 1 - Lumos & Nox
Chapter 1
My experience using the Wand-Lighting Charm was a good one. It helped that it was such an easy spell to start with. I can remember the nervousness at the time though, since it was the first major spell I had performed by myself. I was sitting in my bed staring down at Chapter One of my textbook. I kept reciting the charm in my head over and over, making sure I was pronouncing it right. I didn't want anything to go wrong. Finally, I said the charm out loud.
Lumos. I focused all of my energy through my wand. It was too much though! The wand burst into light with a scarlet red color shining against the walls. My room mate growled under her blankets, as she was trying to sleep. I apologized as I worked to relax my body. The light softened itself to a steady yellow glow with each deep breath I took. Finally, it was just how I wanted it to be. I said the extinguishing charm. Nox.
A good note for next time I do the spell is to keep calm. My heart was beating since I was so nervous about doing my first spell, that I wasn't focusing on the effort I was putting into the charm. Hopefully, I will be calmer next time I practice the charm. I may need to put some time aside to work on balancing my breathing so that I may better focus on my spell casting.
Even though there was a little bump, I think my first experience spell casting was a good one. I know I have a lot to improve on, but this spell is my first step into a stronger future. It will also help me to improve my night owl habits, by having an instant source of light for any late reading.
