Overview On Kaiju
Chapter 2
Kaiju, made up of the kanji 怪 (kai, mysterious) + 獣 (ju; beast) are unusual beasts with supernatural ability or cryptids. A Western example of a kaiju would be Bigfoot, or the jackalope.
Below is a list of notable kaiju youkai with a short description of each:
- Nekomata- a large split-tailed cat. Not to be confused with the bakeneko. Will be discussed further in a later chapter.
- Kirin- described as the "Eastern unicorn". A pure and benevolent hoofed creature. Possibly to be discussed further in a later chapter.
