Boggarts: An Introduction
Chapter 1
If you are looking for a manual about flobberworms or fairies, then I regret to inform you that this is not the right book. The boggart is a horrible creature, feeding off of fright and literally your worst fear coming to life. However, these spirits are more than meets the eye. They can be tamed, they can be terrifying, or they can be taught. The choice is solely up to you. But, before you take a pick, I must tell you, Boggarts can be a very helpful ally.
Appearance: A boggart is one of the only creatures known to wizardkind that can shapeshift. It uses this power for self-preservation. A boggart feeds off of fear, this to elicit the fear out of its victims, it uses a mind-reading technique to discover a person's fear and turn into it.
However, if a boggart is alone, what form shall it take? The answer is quite simple. A boggart can only take the form of a fear. If it is alone, it senses magical energy and turns into that fear, even if the person with the fear is not present.
