The Hideous Herbs of Horror

Chapter 3
About seven months after my trip to Magby Manor, I got another owl. This time, it was straight from the President of Magic himself, Thomas Quinch. A ruffled gray owl flew through my open window as I read a book about Threstrals. To my shock, Quinch needed me to join a group of renowned herbologists to perform an experiment with the most dangerous plants known to mankind.
In the dead of night, I flew on my Firebolt all the way to Virginia. I arrived at the Virginia Greenhouse 26 and gasped at what I saw. The greenhouse was overrun by crawling plants and pests roamed about. There were no people in sight, giving the place an eerie feel. I began to believe that there really was no experiment. I wondered why President Quinch sent me here, knowing that this place was overtaken by plants.
I knew that this place was slightly populated by Muggles, so I knew that I must get rid of these plants. Surrounding the greenhouse was a group of Horklumps, pink mushroom-like creatures covered in black bristles. The standard method of removing Horklumps is to pour Streeler venom on them, the only substance that can kill them. I reached to my backback, taking out a bottle of color changing slime. I poured it all over each Horklump and every one withered into a pink juice.
That problem was solved, but the Horklumps brought a bigger problem. The Horklump is the natural prey of Gnomes, large headed pests with hairy bodies. I knew there were Gnomes because there were relatively large holes all around, a bit bigger than the ones made by moles.
A Gnome popped out of a hole and snickered at me. I grabbed the little pest by its legs, spinning it around until it was dizzy. I then threw the Gnome far away and it ran away. I did this with all of the Gnomes I saw and the others ran away, in fear of the fate I inflicted upon the others.
I opened the door, put I could not enter. The entrance was dimly lit and was blocked by many moving vines slithering around. This was Devil's Snare, a strangling plant that thrives in darkness. A vine gripped my ankle, so I quickly cast the Sunlight Charm, which is Lumos Solem. A beam of bright light shot from my wand tip causing the Snare to shrivel up. I could now safely continue.
A quiet hiss echoed across the greenhouse with every step I took. Vines were everywhere, but not Devil's Snare vines. Then, I saw a fanged blood red flower with a forked tongue and tentacle-like vines. It was Venomous Tentacula. The tentacles tried to grab my neck, so I cast the Severing Charm, Diffindo, on all the vines. I then cast a strong Knockback Jinx, Flipendo, on the flower, knocking all of the teeth out. I then cast the Fire-Making Charm on the plant, rendering it to ash.
The greenhouse was clear, but still wondered why Quinch would do such a thing as send me to an abandoned greenhouse...
