Night of the Niffler
Chapter 4
It was lunch time and everyone had gathered in the Great Hall. Once the food was ready, the Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, stood up to make an announcement.
"Hello staff, students, and spirits! I do hope that you all are enjoying the Flobberworm Fritters that our kitchen staff has prepared. The Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, will be arriving at Hogwarts to do the annual inspection. Please show Mr. Fudge that Hogwarts is our home."
Then, Cornelius Fudge showed up in the back of the room. He was scribbling on a piece of parchment. On his finger was the biggest ring that Henry had ever seen. It was golden, studded with diamonds, and very shiny. Henry had read about that ring. It was the Grand Ring of the Minister, the most valuable magical object in England.
The final class of the day was Astronomy, which took place late at night. Henry decided to leave Oreo in his dormitory, to prevent further trouble. Oreo was placed on an armchair, given a leaf to nibble on. Henry left the dorm, running up to the Astronomy Tower before being late.
"Hello, students! Today's lesson will be a very special one! Or at least, I hope it will be," said the Astronomy professor. "Take your telescope and polish it well! Remember use the cleaning potion on my desk!" Henry scrubbed the lens of his telescope, hoping that Oreo didn't cause more mischief.
"Now, I want you to twist the red knob on your left and say "Mars". Look into the telescope. You should see Mars. I want you to observe the surface and take notes in the books that I've provided." Henry gazed at the red surface of Mars, but could not focus
His mind wandered off to Oreo. He was such a handful!
Finally, after worrying about Oreo for too long, Henry ran back down from the Astronomy Tower to the Ravenclaw dormitory. He quickly entered, only to find an absolute mess. The sheets of the beds were torn and stained. The blue wallpaper was shredded in some places to reveal the hard brick. Clothes were thrown around and sleeping on a 1st Year's robes was Oreo, curled up and sleeping. And in his hands was the Grand Ring of the Minister.
