Fox And Phoenix, Pt. 1
Chapter 4
Though I did not know the place, I set out for the land of my dreams and I turned my eyes to the west. If east was where the sun came up, I'd rather it at my back. I don't really know why... I guess I just wanted to be able to see the day fade away.
Something I realized that night was that no matter which way you traveled, there will be two points in every day: One where you're running away from the sun and another that you're running towards it.
My hands and arms were warmed by the light but they felt the chill in it's absence. It was my wand that kept me warm. One hair from a fox's tail and the down feather of a phoenix. It's wood was black oak. It meant that even with a light shining from it's tip, it was nearly invisible at night.
I've heard about the kinds of people and... creatures about in the night, but I know enough. I've studied enough, and as the shape of the school shrinks on the horizon I know that the old life is behind me. That something sacred has been born.
And though I may not know the place, I set forth to the land of my dreams.
Inspired by the quote from the muggle Keiichi Sigsawa:
“Though I did not know the place, I set out for the land of my dreams. Having arrived at the land of my dreams, I found I did not know the place”
