The Way of the Threstral

Chapter 4
Keeping a Threstral is no easy task. Not a lot of magic can assist in this dangerous job. One must have courage, faith, and trust to do this, but there are some other basic things that every Threstral needs.
First off, you have to have a suitable habitat for the Threstral(s). To take up less space, you can use a powerful Undetectable Extension Charm on a case or bag. This will need a high amount of willpower and concentration to do, which should be achieved when you are an adult. You will then have to fill the case/ bag with vegetation and trees.
The Undetectable Extension Charm's incantation is "Interno Engorgio". Make a sharp flick towards the target. Never use this on a living thing. This would undoubtedly result in that animal, plant, or human exploding. If you are simply looking to expand the container by a small rate, a small amount of willpower is needed. If you expand a case or bag for the purposes of a Threstral habitat, a large amount of willpower is needed.
Next, go to the Ministry and go to the Department of the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Go to the Beast Keeping Office, and inform them that you would like a Threstral. They will give you a test, giving questions like if you have seen a death or what you will keep them in.
The only way to keep a Threstral is to see it is to have seen death. This does not work if you have caused the death, or if you haven't processed the death completely. You can't see Threstrals if you're still in denial.
To bond with a Threstral, there are many things you can do. The first is to just feed it, which makes it respect you. The second, and most popular, is to give it affection, with affectionate gestures such as rubbing or patting. The last, and most obscure, is singing to the Threstral. Luna Lovegood, a magizoologist and Threstral breeder, is credited with this discovery. Threstrals seem to enjoy jazz the most.
