MESOPOTAMIA

Muggle history often teaches this as the "cradle of civilization" or "the fertile crescent" and we can study it for the same reason. Mesopotamia is Greek for "The Land Between Rivers" because of it's positioning between the Tigris and Euphrates. We will be looking at the city state of Sumer

Sumer, located south of Akkad, was one of the most important
city-states in Mesopotamia. Sumerian people were the first to create
potions, and created some of the first healing potions and defensive
potions in the world.

Modern day potions tend to be much more controlled and diluted.

In their minds magic was a sign of godliness.

Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the fifth king of Uruk and is often described as two-thirds god, one-third man.

He reigned for 126 years as king (and this at a time when 40 was hitting your deathbed)

Mr. Malaam at the Iraqi Institute of Potioneering and Magical Medicine

Huwawa (or as your book inaccurately calls it the Humbaba). This
beast can now, with some certainty, be known as the Hungarian Horntail
Primari. It was the first actual known recording of the Horntail and was
found (again) by Mr. Malaam.

Ja'mam Biba, wrote what is known as the Letter of Severance. This act lead to the mass murder of many magical people in Akkad and Babylon.

PHOENICIA

came up with the Proto-Canaanite Alphabet.

The Phoenicians used magical woods in many of their boats, as they were a
well known maritime power, and traders. Their boats were protected by
charms and enhanced by their use of the magical wood

In Egypt spells were found that dated back to Byblos (a
Phoenician city), one such spell was one that read "rir-rir or wal lat
ick nur geg". Phoenician spells were often done ritually and wandlessly.
This spell's introduction suggests it would have done something similar
to Vipera Evanesca (snake banishing).

INDUS RIVER VALLEY

almost 80% of their artifacts (if not more) hold some sort of magical powers.

a group of magical priests or Brahmin known as the B'ha-Rahi Brotherhood.

Lahsun, a Chieftain of the B'ha-Rahi, most well known as "The Divine One", is known for his extreme disdain for vampire kind.
