Moon Cat (unfinished)

Every night, at exactly 11.59 pm, she - it - would appear. It would be gone by midnight. But I never expected it to share secrets. . . If everything goes to plan, I will update this every few days (if I have extra time, maybe daily!) All reviews are invited :P

I gawked in shock. "Me, have Grandma's house??" I exclaimed. My joy multiplied as I thought of the soft scent of lemon grass and the cosy, pleasingly consistent colour scheme that could only belong to Grandma Norris.
"That's amazing! Thank you!" I'd been looking for a house for ages. It didn't have to be huge, or in an especially nice area, or over-the-top pretty. Grandma's house was none of these, but it was perfect to live in. Cosy, sweet and very themed, her little bungalow in a quiet place of town was all mine.
"Is that legal?" asked my brother Aiden, putting down his study book and tilting his head slightly. He hadn't put his revision books down ever since the official date for his GCSEs were announced, and it made me grateful I had finished secondary school a few years back.
"Well, we've looked into it," answered Dad, the geek of the family, "and it seems, yes, Grandma did pay off all her mortgage. She should have been more specific in her will, to be fair, but since your sister is still part of the Lee family, she can rightfully take ownership as soon as she wants."
"Way to go, Ginger!" Aiden exclaimed. He held out a hand for me to high-five. I did, but as I let one hand go of the piece of toast, a large blob of the marmalade drowning it splattered onto my pyjama bottoms.
"Damn it," I cursed, but Pearl and Samphire lept onto my lap and licked it clean.
Wow, okay then, I thought, taken aback. It's like they've never been fed! Then another thought arose.
"Can I take the Birmans?" I asked excitedly.
"The who-de-what-now?" enquired Aiden.
"Birmans," I repeated. "The cats."
"Is that their family name?"
I slapped my forehead, and laughed. "You know, for such a smart kid, you are pretty dumb, Aid."
"Don't call me dumb, and don't call me Aid!" He was funny when he was angry too.
"Hey, hey, hey," interjected Mum. "It would be great if you took the cats, I think they'd prefer it at Grandma's. It's where they've lived practically all their lives, after all."
"I think we'd prefer them at Grandma's too," said Aiden wearily.
I gave him a questioning glance. "Did you not hear them last night?" Aiden sounded suddenly exasperated. "Whining and hissing and running! Take them, I don't care where, just take them!"
Memories of last night replayed in my mind. "Oh, yeah," I mused. "They woke me up at three, walked all over me and kicked my alarm clock."
They all laughed, but the events of last night didn't make me reluctant to take them. I'd always wanted a pet, it was just Aiden's allergies that prevented me adopting all the cats in the world. I was surprised he survived last night, to be fair. Plus, they probably just kicked off like they did because they didn't like a new home, that's all.
I moved out the next day...
