Horcruxes

Chapter 7
The final and most gruesome type of Dark magic is known as the Horcrux. This is an object, or living being, that contains a part of the enchanter's soul. Notable Horcrux creators are Lord Voldemort, who made several Horcruxes, from his diary to Harry Potter himself, and Herpo the Foul, who created the Horcrux!
Herpo the Foul made his pet Basilisk a Horcrux, but that didn't last long, due to the fact that Basilisk venom can destroy a Horcrux. Voldemort made many Horcruxes. Tom Riddle's diary, the Ravenclaw Diadem, The Hufflepuff Cup, the Slytherin Locket, Nagini, Harry Potter, Marvolo Gaunt's Ring, and Quirinus Quirrel were all used as Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes.
The process of creating a Horcrux deeply corrupts the soul to the point of no return. It is also highly disgusting and gory. The first thing is to choose your desired Horcrux. It works best if the object or living thing has some connection to you. Another smart idea is making the object seemingly ordinary.
Next, you must kill a person. This doesn't matter if it is a Muggle or a wizard. Of course, you must directly kill someone. If you hire someone to kill a person, the Horcrux will fail. If you want to make the Horcrux stronger, you could commit another act of evil, such as drinking a unicorn's blood or making a cursed item.
Next, you must apply enough willpower to split and force your soul into an object. This requires a tremendous amount of willpower, even higher than what it takes to cast the Killing Curse.
Once this act of evil is done, it is irreversible. You will be immortal, but you will not truly live. You will be a lower being than spirits, for you won't be able to interact with anything, whereas ghosts can at least change the environment's temperature.
