Chapter 9: Dementors, Lethifolds, & Blast Ended Skrewts

Chapter 9
It is quite unlikely that you will ever encounter any of these creatures. One is banned from the Wizarding World. The next is extremely rare. The last is almost extinct. But, it's useful to know how to defend yourself from these Dark creatures.
To defend yourself from these horrible beings, you must be an extremely powerful wizard. This is because the only way to defend yourself from dementors and lethifolds is the Patronus Charm. This charm is a highly advanced skill, using the caster's fondest memories. Your Patronus acts as a shield from the Darkness of these creatures.
The way that you must cast the Patronus Charm consists of thinking of any positive thought and shouting "Expecto Patronum". This spell requires a lot of willpower and concentration. ---------------------------------
Dementors are the spirits that act as the guards of Azkaban. They are best known for the Dementor's Kiss, an act that sucks out the soul of the victim. With ragged black cloaks, they thrive off of bad thoughts and make the atmosphere cold and miserable wherever they go. After you encounter a dementor, eat a food like chocolate to cheer up. ---------------------------------
Lethifolds (XXXXX), also known as the Living Shroud, resembles a black cloak that glides around at night in search of human prey. They devour their victims whole and are only repelled, again, by the Patronus Charm. ---------------------------------
Blast Ended Skrewts are the result of an illegal cross-breed between a fire crab and a manticore by Rubeus Hagrid. They look almost like large mundane scorpions with a curseproof shell and big curling stingers on each end. They have many forms of attack which include shooting fire out of their behinds and stinging their victims. This is a perfect example of why wizarding laws on creatures should be followed. They were bred at Hogwarts and they even took place in the Triwizard Tournament as an obstacle.
Every creature has a weakness or a crack in their armor, so to say. The blast ended skrewt's weakness is its underside. This fleshy part isn't covered by its shell and is prone to spells like the Stinging Jinx, the Bludgeoning Hex, and the Freezing Charm. Always attack a blast ended skrewt from the side to prevent burns from the skrewt's back end.
