Chapter 5: Doxies, Pogrebins & Hinkypunks
Chapter 5
The doxy is thought of like a pest. So is the hinkypunk. The pogrebin is too. They all are highly fatal. While, they're all relatively small and seemingly harmless, they can easily be deadly in their own way.
Doxies (XXX) may be cute at first, but you should never be vulnerable to them. They're very easy to get rid of. Either use a squirt of the popular potion, Doxycide, or the useful Knockback Jinx. However, it's the venom of a doxy that is harmful.
Doxies have two rows of extremely sharp teeth that are laced with poison. This poison has horrible effects including death. If you have been bitten the only cure is the Cure for Uncommon Poisons. Main differences between fairies and doxies are that doxies have 4 legs and pointed teeth, while fairies have 2 legs and flat teeth. ---------------------------------
While near swampy or marshy areas, beware of the hinkypunk. Resembling a wisp of smoke, this Dark creature carries a lantern and leads travelers into bogs for prey. Hinkypunks can shoot fire from their lanterns, so be careful when in the defense method. Any attempts of the hinkypunk to attack can be deflected by a Sheild Charm.
First, trap the hinkypunk in a corner or tight space. Then, blind it with the Lumos Duo Charm. Finally, hit it with the Knockback Jinx for 3-5 times, and it will vanish. ---------------------------------
Our next creature is actually a Russian demon, the pogrebin ( XXX). They are humanoid creatures with a large, gray head, that looks like a rock. They feed off of human despair in an unusual manner. They will stalk you and fill you with despair until you fall to the ground, sobbing. Once you have fallen to the ground, it will proceed to eat its poor victim.
There are two simple ways to combat a pogrebin. The first is the easiest and can be done by underage wizards or witches and even Muggles. This is just kicking it. Another way is to just use practically any offensive spell. These both work equally as good because the shock of being discovered and the physical pain from the attack will be enough to render it defeated.
