Chapter 4: Boggarts, Sphinxes, & Grindylows

Chapter 4
These creatures all come from very different backgrounds. Underwater, deserts, and wardrobes are the homes to these Dark creatures. Of course, to defeat them, you'll have to be quick and witty. Behold, the boggart, the sphinx, and the grindylow.
Merpeople are the only race that can tame a grindylow (XX). They are aggressive to wizardkind and Muggles alike. With tentacles and long strong fingers, it usually eats fish, but will grab humans too. If a grindylow grabs you these are 2 methods you can try.
1. Cast the Revulsion Jinx (Relashio) on its hands, forcing it to let go
2. Because of the grindylow's brittle finger bones, you can easily break its fingers. I reccomend using this method so that the grindylow can't grab back onto you. If it tries to bite you, a simple Knockback Jinx will help. ---------------------------------
The thing that is so terrifying about boggarts is that no one knows what they truly look like. Boggarts take the form of whatever frightens you most. If you are afraid of the boggart, you are vulnerable, as boggarts feed off of fear. However, true laughter weakens them.
First of all, one thing you must know about boggarts is that they live in dark, tight areas. Always travel in a group, when handling them. Release the boggart and picture something funny in its place. Then cast the Boggart-Repelling Charm (Riddickulus), and the boggart will be transformed into what you pictured. Once, the boggart hears the laughter, it will be destroyed immediately. ---------------------------------
Sphinxes (XXXX) are useful and just as deadly. Gringotts uses them to guard many vaults and one was used in the 1995 Triwizard Tournament. They have the head of an Egyptian woman and the body of a lion. They are also very intelligent and make hard riddles, being capable of human speech. Whoever wishes to pass the sphinx must answer one of these riddles. If they answer incorrectly, the sphinx attacks. As they are immune to magic, no spell can hurt them.
If a sphinx asks you a riddle, analyze it and make sure you fully understand it.
