Chapter 2: Imps, Pixies, and Gnomes
Chapter 2
These creatures may be tiny, but they can be dangerous. Although imps, pixies, and gnomes seem just annoying, they can do serious harm. There are several accounts of the many dangers these pesky "Dark" creatures. In Defense against the Dark Arts classes in many wizarding schools, these will be some of the 1st creatures that you'll learn to defend yourself from.
The 1st creature of these that we'll cover is the easiest to deal with.; the gnome (XX). They have been the bane of gardeners all over Europe and America. While their bites may sting at first, they can easily be cured by dittany, a minor healing spell, or Muggle ointment.
To de-gnome a garden, grab the gnome by its feet, repeatedly swing it around in the air, and throw it into some container. Sometimes the gnome will have to be stunned with the Stunning Spell (Stupefy). In some extreme cases, a tame Jarvey may be required, as it is the predator of gnomes. ---------------------------------
The most dangerous of these is the pixie, notably the Cornish pixie (XXX). Lovers of mischief, they will pull hazardous pranks on who ever is closest to them. They have incredible speed and strength, even able to lift humans in the air.
Arguably, the best way to handle pixies is the Freezing Charm (Immobulus), which will allow you to capture them. You must do this quickly enough so that the charm wears off.
Please note that the spell "Peskipiksi Pesternomi" is not a real spell and was created by renowned fraud, Gilderoy Lockhart. ---------------------------------
The most last of them is the imp (XX). They are related to the pixie, but they cannot fly and play more vicious pranks. These include stealing children, and starting explosions.
However, there is a very simple way to defend yourself. Use the Shield Charm (Protego) to repel any attacks. Then stun the imp with the Knockback Jinx (Flipendo) and drop him a nearby hole or ditch.
