Such mysterious creatures thestrals are you can only see them if you see death itself but why are thestrals an omen of death find out in the book.

The original thestral theory
Chapter 3
Originally thestrals were named as unlucky, hunted and I'll creatures.
A theory is that thestrals are unicorns that are mistreated or unicorns that have done wrong
But I don't know if this is true or not and I'm not to sure about them.
Thestrals are explained by hagrid that they are dead clever they are able to understand someone voice and can find exactly the right place to go. They can easily recognise blood and they can tell from evil and good and choose for the better.
For example in the battle of Hogwarts thestrals helped throughout it they traveled bill Weasley and fleur to point A to B in the battle of the seven potters and they attacked the giants to help save people from them.
