A next theroy is that muggles cant know about magic for wich and wizards protection itself.
This is because if a wizard is sentenced to death from a Muggle and is stripped from its wand the wizard is potentially useless towards all self-defence methods.
This is shown when nearly headless nick was stripped from his wand prior to being thrown in a dungeon before execution unable to aparate out.
