I found some additional information from the tales of beedle the bard. Stated by albus dumbledore from the wizard and the hoping pot
" Let the muggles manage without us" was the cry as the wizard.

Another opinion is that muggles are scared of magic itself scared of its power it can hold. Scared that the wizarding world could control them.
