A Brief History

Chapter 1
The mother of Newt and Theseus Scamander bred Hippogriffs for a living and helped to inspire her son's lifelong interest in magical creatures.

Theseus Scamander worked as an Auror with the British Ministry of Magic, being described as a powerful wizard. He participated in the wizarding effort in the First World War, and afterward was considered a war hero. By 1927, he had proposed to Leta Lestrange.

Newton Scamander, O.M. (Second Class), was born in in 1897. He was a famed Magizoologist and author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Early in life, Scamander developed an interest in magical Creatures, influenced by his mother's breeding of Hippogriffs. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was Sorted into Hufflepuff House, and was later expelled. Newt would go on to marry Porpentina Goldstein, an American witch, and together they had at least one child, presumably a son.

The Scamander family were "not impressed" by Newt's career in Magizoology.

Rolf Scamander, Newt and Tina's grandson, married Luna Lovegood sometime after the Second Wizarding War. Together they had a daughter, Mallory, and twin sons, Lorcan and Lysander.
