Our Jam Session Is Ruined
Chapter 6
''I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah''
I played on my ukulele with deep concentration. The girls in my dorm were harmonizing with me. I kept getting distracted by how beautiful it sounded.
''Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah'' we sang loudly and clearly.
''Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthre-'' the door swung open and a bunch of girls from other dorms came in and started cheering.
''Sorry to interrupt but we just got too excited! We love you guys! Woohoo! I'm going to get the headmistress! She has to hear this!'' said Noemi, the Hufflepuff prefect, squealing. The girls left, and my dorm-mates and I got out from our beds, me still holding my ukulele. We gathered in the center of the room.
''Uh, what just happened?'' Floerence asked.
''Is Noemi going to make us perform in front of Professor McGonagall?'' Ella said in a tiny voice.
''It seems so.'' I said. We all groaned.
Five minutes later, the Headmistress of Hogwarts apparated into our dormitory.
''I hear you girls are a talented bunch.'' she said with a tight smile.
We just stood there, not saying anything.
''Well go on then, play something!'' she said.
''Guys,'' I said. ''Do you all know ''You Are My Sunshine?''''
They nodded.
''Okay, one, two, three, four.'' I counted them in.
