There I was, sitting at the Hufflepuff table. Someone was making a speech, and I was just sitting there stuffing my face with food. I ate three chicken wings, a lot of salad, a potato, peas, carrots, yorkshire pudding, and some other stuff. I was just about to grab seconds when someone nudged me in the side.

''I know you're excited about all of this food, and I am too, but everyone is staring at you now, so you should wait until Professor McGonagall is finished speaking.'' A boy beside me whispered. He winked.

''Thanks for the heads up, bro.'' I said, and then covered my mouth. ''Oops. I mean, thanks for telling me... not bro?''

He laughed. I looked up and my face turned red. Most of my fellow Hufflepuffs were looking at me like I had just comitted a crime. Some of them were shooting me sympathetic smiles.

''Sorry...'' I said awkwardly. ''Food excites me.''

They turned away, and we all listened to the talk.

''...and so I formally welcome all of you first years to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.'' Professor McGonagall finished.

''You can eat now.'' the boy informed me. ''I'm Sam, by the way, and this is my twin sister, Lilac.'' A girl that was sitting beside him poked her head out and gave a small wave. She had dark brown wavy hair and green eyes. Freckles dotted her cheeks and nose, and when she smiled she got huge dimples. The only feature she and Sam had in common were their hair colour.

''Fraternal twins?'' I guessed. They nodded. I put my hand out for them to shake. ''I'm Sarah.'' I said.

''Nice to meet you.''

''Back at you, bro.'' I winked, then stuffed my face with more chicken.
