Magical Mercury - Log Book Of A Different Holiday

In 2075, the Wizarding World, with the help of an ingenious muggleborn Rune Master, scientist and engineer, was able to create a permanent base on Mercury. The mission was two-fold: testing and hopefully finding traces of magic outside of our planet, and to fund the base and research by allowing civilians to visit Mercury. In 2082, Cynthia Cousland realized one of her dreams by being one of those civilians taking a holiday on Mercury. Follow her as she embarked on this 7-day adventure.

Chapter 7

Oh they were right! Today
was incredible. We when to some mountains and watched as the sun started to god
below the horizon. I had not really noticed before, but now I realize that the
sun has never been high in the sky during my whole stay. The researchers say we
are getting closer to the end of a Mercury day. They still have the equivalent
of a couple of earth weeks left and then it will be night for more than a month.
Anyways, as the sun started to disappear below the horizon, the light it
emitted stopped being concentric and instead formed waves, like the sun was
dancing in the wind or something. They say it’s called a corona. I say it’s the
sun’s magical aura manifesting itself. It was the perfect closure to such an
enlightening trip. I’ve attached three photos the researchers gave us. Two of
those were taken by the muggle spacecraft MESSENGER decades ago. One was taken
with the special equipment they have here and it’s of the corona. Once I get
home, I’ll have to find a way to reproduce it on my bedroom ceiling…
