Magical Mercury - Log Book Of A Different Holiday
In 2075, the Wizarding World, with the help of an ingenious muggleborn Rune Master, scientist and engineer, was able to create a permanent base on Mercury. The mission was two-fold: testing and hopefully finding traces of magic outside of our planet, and to fund the base and research by allowing civilians to visit Mercury. In 2082, Cynthia Cousland realized one of her dreams by being one of those civilians taking a holiday on Mercury. Follow her as she embarked on this 7-day adventure.

Chapter 2
Today was
quite fun. We suited up and the researchers side-along apparated us on the
ground. Even with the shield and cooling charm you can still feel the warmth. It’s
like one of those not too hot summer days when the sun is just enough too heat
you up without making you all sweaty, quite enjoyable. As for the air you
breathe, even filtered and injected with more oxygen, it was quite peculiar. It’s
definitely not the same then back home. Obviously, with no water on the planet,
the air lacked in humidity, but there was just something else different. You
know when spring comes and you can smell the earth unfreezing, or when winter
arrives and you can smell the nip in the air? There was something like that. It
actually reminded me a bit of a volcano I visited in Costa Rica years ago,
smelled like rotten eggs, but not quite exactly. The researchers say that it is
the sulfur in the ground composition and the sodium released in the air by the
sun (or something like that). Makes sense when I think about it. There’s also
the sun. It is much bigger than the one on Earth and much brighter as well.
Logical since we are closer to it after all. Oh and the sky itself is actually
black. Slightly disconcerting. Finally, everything is shades of grey with
sometimes hints of brown, that’s going to get boring pretty quickly.
