Taylor Christopher Paxton And The Arcane Labyrinth
Taylor Christopher Paxton is a character I created for an RPG I was going to start, but never got around to. Instead, it turned into something much bigger. I decided I wanted to start a backstory for this character before I began RP-ing as him on Tumblr, and it, in Ron Burgundy's terms, escalated quickly from there. The result was a 12,000+ word fan fiction into the next-generation of Harry Potter characters through the eyes of a completely new face. It's not finished, not in the slightest. In fact, the real adventures haven't even begun yet. The Arcane Labyrinth is something that Taylor, Scorpius, and a few other new and familiar faces stumble onto in Taylor's fifth year. At forty-five pages in, I don't think I've even cracked the third year in Taylor's story yet. It's set up fast paced, and it is for the most part. I hope to get to the actual bulk of the story soon. I'll certainly be more motivated if I get positive feedback, so let me know what you think. One final note, while face claims are not totally important, I should note that Taylor was being modeled after young Leonardo DiCaprio.

Good Things In Threes
Chapter 3
The Wizarding War ended at the beginning of May, and the following year, Sarah returned to Hogwarts to complete her last year of formal magical education. She received “Exceeds Expectations” on four of her N.E.W.T.s, them being Charms, Divination, Potions, and Transfiguration. She went on to apply for a job at the Ministry of Magic, but not in a field she expected to apply in. It seems that while she was away she did pick up a taste for Muggle activities, and went on to be an activist for Muggle awareness who worked her way up through the Muggle Relations department of the Ministry.
All the while she carried on a secret relationship with Christopher Paxton. Her Muggle. It would never do for them to truly be together. She knew this. She was a respectable witch from a respectable family…
In late 2001, Sarah became pregnant. Christopher, who knew that Sarah’s parents would never allow for her to be with someone so ordinary, freaked and asked if she couldn’t just magic the baby away. Sarah, however, didn’t want to give up their child, her child. So what if he was a half-blood? Harry Potter and You-Know-Who himself had both been half-bloods…
Sarah, fearing her family’s reaction, made a difficult decision. She obliviated all memory of herself from her parents and her sisters. The Tinsleys never saw or thought of Sarah again. And Sarah Tinsley became Sarah Paxton.
They moved into a three-bedroom flat in London’s West End, affordable only by Christopher’s law salary combined with Sarah’s ability to conjure Muggle money out of thin air. Pounds, Euros, pence pieces… They were all the same to a thoroughbred witch.
It wasn’t exactly legal… But neither was obliviating a whole family’s memory. The thing is: none of the Paxtons had a single memory of Sarah, so they couldn’t very well turn her in to the Ministry. She got away with it…
On September 4th, 2002, Robert Wilhelmina Paxton was born, a beautiful baby boy. Sarah and Christopher had no greater joy than when they held their swaddling little bundle of love.
But time passed, and Robby showed no signs of magic. He showed no great aptitude for knowledge or anything remarkable. He was an average boy and, perhaps, a little below if all is disclosed honesty. There was nothing grand about his existence. Sarah loved him because he was the product of her own womb, but she did not like the boy.
Looking upon him grieved her... It reminded her of how she had forsaken her parents for the Muggle she loved so well. It was not a decision she regretted, but it was still one that pained her terribly.
It was easier for Christopher to accept Robert’s mediocrity—not everyone can be exceptional. Then again, compared to Sarah, not even Chris himself was exceptional. He was a lawyer, yes… But she was a witch. A real witch.
Robby was always quiet. There is something about being shunned by a mother at a young age that permanently changes the temperament of a person, and this was evident in Rob’s countenance. He was quiet and solemn, even before his baby brother was born…
In July of 2007, Sarah became pregnant again. This time she held no hope for having a magical baby. Squibs were rare, yes, but sometimes it was a hereditary trait. The Thurkell brothers were a prime example of this.
In the 17th century, Thaddeus Thurkell, a great wizard of his time, had seven sons, and each and every one of them turned out to be squibs. Time and time again, his hopes were raised only to be razed. It enraged him so much that, in the end, he transfigured all of his children into hedgehogs. And the Thurkell line ended with Thaddeus…
March 17th, 2008 Sarah birthed another baby boy. This one was named Taylor Christopher Paxton. The decision to give Taylor his father’s name for a middle name was out of some notion that it would inspire good luck. In the end, it was not ill-conceived.
In February of 2009, Taylor exhibited his first magical talent. While being pushed through a dog park in a stroller by his father, Taylor decided to levitate all of the dogs in the park. Later that night, BBC did an exposition on a freak gravitational anomaly that had occurred earlier in the day in London’s West End.
This inspired the Paxton’s spontaneous move from London to Manchester. They chose to live on the outskirts so Taylor didn’t have to be exposed to such high populations when he couldn’t control his magic, and that is why his parents kept him inside so frequently.
He was the most loved child of the Paxtons. Robby grew bitter over his mother’s excessive affections doted upon Taylor. Rob, already exhibiting misanthropic tendencies, snubbed his brother entirely. He refused to acknowledge, talk to, or play with his baby brother.
When Sarah became pregnant and birthed her third child, her first daughter, Robby had high hopes that the spotlight would transition from Taylor to their new sister. Susan Penelope Paxton was born on March 6th, 2012, and she was a beautiful baby girl. Her beauty paled in comparison to four-year-old Taylor, however. Taylor was beginning to learn to control his magical abilities, with only the occasional outburst, and the family’s life in Manchester became deep-rooted.
