The Letter
Chapter 1
I stepped out of the bus. "See you later, Reyna!"
"Call me!"
"I will!" I walked over to the mailbox. "Hope I've got mail," I muttered. Suddenly, I heard the flapping of wings.
I set down my book. It was a well worn copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a book I was reading for the fifth time. I then leaned my head back to look up. A most unusual thing happened then.
An owl was flying above my head holding some sort of scroll. It dropped the scroll, which bounced off of my head.
I grabbed the book and the scroll and ran inside. When I got inside I told my parents. They said it was all just a joke. A prank. But they hadn't read the books. They didn't understand.
I opened the scroll. Some sort of parchment? I don't think I was prepared for what I saw next.
In fancy-ish handwriting, these are the words that were on the paper:
HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,
Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)
Dear Ms. Myracle,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
