Introduction
Chapter 1
This is a book of spells and charms that wizards or witches use on a daily basis and also contains spells or charms that could help protect you from evil. Charms differ from Transfiguring spells because a charms adds certain properties to an object or person or creature, unlike a transfiguring spell which will change the thing into something different in one way or another. You will learn many lesser charms which are very easily broken, many of these kind of charms will wear off in a matter of days or even hours. You will not find any dark charms such as jinxes, hexes, and curses. Those kind of spells are located in the Defense Against Dark Arts class and it’s books, not in this book.
There are many side effects, some very painful, if your concentration slips while performing charms. Remember the Wizard Baruffio, who said ‘S’ instead of ‘F’ and found himself lying on the floor with a buffalo on his chest. Some spells or charms can heal you, but when performed wrong can result in no bone or worst breaking. One of my friends had accidentally send his other friend into a wall with a wrong flick of the wrist. Another one of my friends had transplanted his ears onto a cactus. Some charms will be ineffective on larger creatures such as trolls, whose hides repel all but the most powerful spells.
Most importantly you must learn to properly pronounce the spells so you do not end up like any of my friends did. Secondly, but still very important, you must learn to properly wave your wand so that the target is charmed properly. Many of these charms you will relearn in your school years or you might learn more powerful versions of the spell. Concentrate and your charm will be performed perfectly and practice, practice, and practice.
