The Forest

Chapter 15

It was nearly dawn, and I couldn't see much around me. I landed on top of Theo. He was still unconscious. I felt his wrist for a heartbeat, it was slow and steady. I looked around for Professor Alan. Or. Alan in this case, as I assume he's no longer a Professor.

I stood up and glanced over at the pond that was once crystal blue, now is an eery orange, mixed with white. Theo laid there unconscious still. It was night time, and I heard howling. What to do.  I kept running scenarios in my head. I remembered a few spells that might help in this situation. I stood above Theo and pulled my wand out, "Protego Maxima" I cast a charm around us. "Protego Horribilis", "Repello Muggleton", I muttered a few more charms, to make sure we had full and maximum protection. I dusted the ground off a bit, and yanked some tree stems off from the tree. "Spongify" I pointed my wand at the branches. It felt as soft as a bed.

I needed to make sure we had water, so I found two birds that were sitting idly by, "Fera Verto" I cast on them. One turned into a cup, the other a wooden bowl. I doused the cup in water, and brought it back to where Theo was laying. He had a cut on the side of his head. "Tergeo" I pointed at the dried up blood on his face. Theo has been knocked out for quite some time. He's breathing steadily.

It was already dark outside, so I lit a fire to make sure we would stay warm. I grabbed some fish from the pond, and managed to make a decent meal out of it. I heard Theo rolling around, and I turned to check on him. He opened his eyes a little bit. And then shut them again. I presumed he was still tired. "Looks like you're treating me to a date now" Theo said. I turned around, "I hardly call this a date. It's more like a Honeymoon." We both laughed.

He sat up, and I gave him the cup of water to drink out of. "Do you just have random things lying on you?" Theo said. "Magic comes in handy, especially in this situation." Theo scratched his head, "So... What happened exactly?" I sighed, "Well. We were in the Great Hall about to have a speech given to us by the Aurors, and Alan tried to attack you. I pushed you out of the way, you got knocked out. Alan and I got into a fight. He tried to dive at you and apparate away, but I latched onto you." He turned away, and looked at the ground, "Where did Alan go?" I looked around, "I have no idea. You and I landed together, and I couldn't find him. So I set up magical barriers around us, so we would be safe through the night. Then tomorrow, we'll go looking around, and find our way back to Hogwarts."

I sat towards the fire, and let my hands feel the warmth. It was so cold outside, but I didn't want to complain. I knew Theo would start to feel stressed out if I complained. Theo sat next to me and grabbed the fish I prepared for him, He took one bite of it, "It's kinda cold," he said. I smiled, "That's because I made it two hours ago." He sat it over the fire, and let it cook for a few minutes. I rested my head on the pile of twigs that I made. I curled my knees to my chest, it was so cold, I couldn't feel my toes. I felt the fire growing smaller, and watched as Theo used his wand to ignite the fire again. He sat up next to me, "I'm sorry I had to bring you into this. You shouldn't have to go through this." I looked up at him.

His brown eyes that melted my soul. Those dimples every time he smiled. That chocolate brown hair, and than tan skin. It was worth it. The way he made my lips tingle every time he smiled. Every word he spoke, he would leave me hanging on that last word, that last syllable that he would say. Every time he stood in front of me, I felt that I was going to be safe. He felt like a shield, and I wanted to curl up into his chest, and lay there. But I couldn't. I knew I had to be just as brave as he is right now.

I put my hands in between my knees that were curled up to my chest, and rested my head down. I felt a pull, and saw Theo pulling me closer to him. He was like a furnace. He was so warm. His body radiated heat. I smiled, and I closed my eyes.

I felt the Sun on my face. It was just rising. I looked over at Theo who was still asleep from the night before, and the fire - out. I sat up and walked around the area. I gathered some water, and splashed it in my face. I heard the footsteps coming from another direction. Theo was still asleep. It was a hiker. They were hiking directly towards the campsite. They kept getting closer, and closer. My heart kept on racing. They got so close, I almost felt them. I opened my mouth, and felt a pair of hands wrapped around it. "They won't be able to see us. Don't say anything." I waited as they stopped right at the barrier. They just stood there. They turned back around, and walked the other way. "I cast Repello Muggleton around us." I said. He nodded, "I know. I saw the barriers." I took a step back and looked at Theo. He had a grin on his face, like he liked proving me wrong.
I moved the branches over towards a tree, and let them sit. I waved my wand, and watched them turn back into its former status. I looked at Theo. "We need to find our way out of the forest." said Theo. I nodded, and looked at him. "Let's just apparate back to Hogwarts" I said to him. Theo looked at me, and turned away. "I.. uh. Don't know how to apparate." I smiled at him, and said, "You don't know how to apparate?" Theo looked irritated, "No." I grabbed his hand. "Well one of these days, I'll teach you."
I looked at Theo. If you stay right here, I can apparate around, and find our way out of here. Theo nodded at me. I stepped away from him, and looked at him. I couldn't find a way out. The forest kept going for miles, and miles. And if I kept going, I would forget where Theo was. I turned back around and apparated by his feet. He jumped back.
"There's no way out. It keeps going for miles and miles." I said. Theo looked around. He saw a tree, that had a plain top. "Can you apparate up there, and see if it's okay for you to apparate me up there?" I turned towards the tree and ran and jumped. I stood up there and jumped back down while apparating to his side, and before he could take a second to think he was at the top of the tree. I made sure I was holding onto him the entire time. "You know. Your apparation trail isn't Black or White? It's completely Grey." Theo said. I looked at him, "Black indicates your a dark wizard, White indicates the opposite. I choose to believe I am equal in both." Theo glanced around the forest, and saw a small clearing. "We're in the Forest of Dean."
We saw a small pathway, that leads to the opening to the Forest of Dean. We can find our way out from there.
Theo and I apparated towards the entrance to the Forest. We were trapped. Several dark wizards stood around us. Including Madison.
"Well, well. Seems you did learn something while you were a Professor at Hogwarts, Alan." Madison turned to Alan. He had a vacant look on his face, "Thank you." He said."Now that we have you, pretty much where we want you. We're going to have to get rid of one of you." I turned around, two men grabbed both of my arms. I always kept my wand on my hip in between the waist of my pants and my hip. The two men turned me towards Theo, and put me on the ground. One of them men punched me in the face. I felt it. My skin was burning. I knew my face would be red, and I knew I was bleeding. I watched as Theo was screaming at the men. They kept kicking me over and over again. Madison let it happen. She wanted it to happen. "Stop." Madison said. "We will separate them. We don't need to get rid of them... yet." I was lying on the ground, blood all over my face. I wasn't crying, no. I knew better than to show them any signs of weakness.
I opened my eyes barely, they were already swelling shut. I saw as Theo was laying on the ground next to me. He was looking at me, and no one else. He was blinking, and I saw him breathing. He wouldn't take his eyes off of me for even a second. I knew I couldn't watch him suffer.
I gathered myself to stand up, my knees were wobbly. "Leave him alone. I will go with you. You can do whatever you want on me. Just make sure you leave Theo alone."
Theo pursed his lips together. He was in pain. "Please. Make sure you heal him. I don't care what it takes. Don't hurt him. Or I will kill each and every one of you here." They all laughed and chuckled around me. "Whatever you say little lion." I stood up, and Madison grabbed my arm.
We walked off into the distance. I could see Theo getting up to his knees and the men kicking him back down. "NO" I screamed out. Madison pulled me closer to her. "If you scream, I will make sure he gets hurt." I closed my mouth.
We walked to the top of the hill. Madison blinded me. And we apparated to a secluded house near the beach. The sound of the Ocean was calming, but I knew that this wasn't supposed to be a calming enviornment. I missed the beach. I loved feeling the sand between my toes, and feeling the ocean breeze against my face. I was still limping from earlier, and every step I made pain shot up my body. I finally got to sit down outside. I heard someone in the distance. It was a woman. She was tall, she had black raven hair, and she had blue eyes. She had a tattoo the size of her hand on her clavicle. "Theo James is where he is. He wont say anything. He's not talking to us."
Madison turned to look at me. I looked back over at her, and raised an eyebrow. "We'll have to get it out of this one." I saw her say. "Thank you Salindria." I knew I heard that name before. She was in the same year as me. I remember hearing about a girl who dropped out of Hogwarts. She supposedly was caught doing Dark Magic in the Library/ Well. Now I see why.

I felt a sharp pain in my back. Madison was holding her wand in front of me. "TELL ME WHERE HE IS." I looked at her. "Tell you where who is?" I could barely mutter the words, I was screaming. I was in a room. I was sitting on the floor next to a table that was pure metal. "Our leader. He's been hiding at Hogwarts for some time. We don't know where he is." I looked at her. "Do you really think I know who the hell you're talking about?" I felt my wand clutched against my side. I felt it poking my side. I couldn't take her down, not now. I looked at her. "Even if I knew.. I wouldn't tell you." Madison turned red in the face. She held her wand to my neck. "You wouldn't would you?" she said. I didn't flinch at all. She stepped backwards, and she kicked me in the face. Something had to be broken.

I woke up in a dark room. I couldn't see anything, but I heard the beach in the background. We were in the same house. I heard Madison talking. "Bring Theo to me." I heard her say. I felt my wand poking at my side. I heard him breathing for air. I felt my blood raising. I knew I had to get out of here. But I didn't know what was outside the door.
I crawled towards the door, and felt the lock. I pointed my wand at it, "Alohamora." The locks ticked, and the door opened. I locked out into the hall way, and saw no one. I walked downstairs, and peaked through the opening. It was Madison, pouring Amortentia down Theos' throat.
 I had lost. I couldn't win now.
