The End
Chapter 1
Sunlight peaked in through the gap the curtains provided shining down upon the faces of sleeping children. Suddenly the door swung open with a bang causing most of the girls to groan deeply as they were awakened from their slumber.
"Get up! Class starts in 20 minutes! You missed breakfast!"
At this announcement the girls looked at each other before the dorm room broke out in frantic panic. Chaos ensued as clothes were thrown around and items were lost. All but one girl joined in in this chaos. Her eyes still closed as her arm rested upon them in an attempt to keep the light out. The opening of the curtains caused her attempt to become a futile one.
"C'mon Rose. You have 5 minutes before Sophie takes the bathroom."
Green eyes opened with a sigh as she looked at the girl standing by her bedside.
"Merci, Amélie."
Crawling out of bed Rose gave a light smile to the redhead before moving to the bathroom. Once in front of the mirror her eyes widened. Her hair looked as if it had exploded in her sleep, her eyes were dull and heavilly lined with make-up that had ran out in her sleep. Getting rid of last night's make-up Rose attempted to get her hair in control. After biting on her lip from the pain it finally looked presentable. The black strands curled around her face in a pixie-cut as she moved for her toothbrush. Brushing her teeth she was startled at the sudden frantic knocking on the door.
"Rose let me in. It's my turn!"
Rolling her eyes at her own reflection she recognised the voice to be Sophie's.
"You can come in, Sophie. I'm almost done." Her voice sounded garbled as the toothbrush made for a futile attempt to speak properly. The door opened and in strolled Sophie LeChat. Her last name truly suited her as the girls appearance held a catlike air around it. She moved cracefully into the bathroom and shoved Rose away from the mirror before running a comb through her hair. Rose withheld any comment or eye-roll at the action. She was used to it. This was her 5th year at Beauxbatons and her 5th year of having Sophie as one of her closest friends. Leaning over to the sink she got rid of the toothpaste in her mouth and washed it out with some water.
"Can I borrow your make-up? Mama still hasn't send me money to get more." Rose shrugged at the question and gestured to her make-up bag allowing the blonde access to it. Looking at her own reflection in the mirror she frowned. Thanks to last night, today would be a day without make-up for her.
"10 minutes left!"
Rose walked out of the bathroom back over to her bunk before opening the trunk at the bottom of the bed. Grabbing some clothes and the lightblue cloack all BeauxBatons girls were expected to wear she changed.
It was 15 minutes later that the girls were running to their first class of the day. They wouldn't have been late if they hadn't been waiting for Sophie to finish. The other girls they roomed with had already left leaving Amélie, Sophie and Rose behind. Rose could hear Amélie cursing under her breath at the blonde as they ran to their Divination classroom. Stopping in front of the door they took a deep breath before knocking and entering.
"Mademoiselle LeChat, mademoiselle Boret and mademoiselle Coulier, how nice of you to decide to join us after all." Shuffling in their place the teens muttered an apology to their teached before moving to their seat.
"Mademoiselle Coulier." Rose looked up at the mention of her name. "You have been summoned to the Headmistress." Frowning lightly Rose looked at her friends who merely shrugged not knowing what Madame Maxime would want with her. Leaving her books in the care of her friends Rose left the classroom with a summoning slip the teached had given her and made her way to the Headsmistress' office.
Entering the office upon the 3d floor Rose was greeted by the sight of Madame Maxime behind her desk. The office was light and almost magazine-like with the light colours and tight decor.
"Ah, mademoiselle Coulier, please take a seat." Rose obeyed and sat down on the chair in front of the desk. The cushions of the chair molded to properly assist her seating position to one of ultimate comfort. Madame Maxime leaned forwards and laced her fingers together as a light frown settled on her features.
"Mademoiselle Coulier....... Rose... There is something I must tell you." Nodding lightly Rose setlled her hands on her lap, lightly running the material of her skirt between her fingers in order to keep herself calm.
"I'm not in trouble, am I?" She was sure that no word of the celebrations in their dorm-room the night before had not reached the Headmistress. She was sure of it. Nonetheless the feeling of something being wrong settled deep within her and her heart gave a painfull tug.
"No! No... not at all Rose." The light smile Madame Maxime gave her almost looked pitifull. Frowning even more Rose lightly coughed and cleared her throat.
"Then what is it, Headmistress?" The older woman looked down at her desk unsure of how to word her thoughts. Finally their eyes met, an apology could clearly be read in her eyes as her lips parted.
"Rose... There was a fire. Your parents didn't make it. I'm so sorry." Eyes wide Rose sunk back into her chair as her mind tried to comprehend the situation.
"... what...?" Madame Maxime went into a long explanation of how the fire started but Rose couldn't hear her. Her parents were gone. The grip on her skirt tightened as tears started to slip from her eyes. Her heart gave another painfull tug as a heart-wrenching sob escaped from her lips.
It felt as if her entire world just shattered in a fraction of a moment.
