Starting Your Fan Fiction
There are many types of fan fiction in Harry Potter world, but these are the most common:
- 1st Generation- In Hogwarts with Snape, James, Lily, etc.
- 2nd Generation- In Hogwarts with Harry, Hermione, Ron, etc.
- 2nd Generation 2- In Hogwarts with no outside contact with Harry, Ron, Hermione
- 3rd Generation- In Hogwarts with 2nd generation's children
- Tom Riddle fan fiction- In young Voldemort's era, with him being an influential character
- Dumbledore fan fiction- In young Dumbledore's era, with him being an influential character
- Founder-fiction- about the Hogwarts founders
- Other
(Of course there are other fandoms but as this is HIH I started with HP)
These are good starting ideas if you don't know what the setting for your fan fiction is going to be quite yet.
* NOTE- these are only suggestions. Please be creative! That's the most important thing about fan- fiction. Please feel free to use any variation of those starters as your own
Also, some good ideas to get your story really flowing:- Love triangle
- Death of a near-main character
- Huge plot twist involving the daily life of the main/sub-main character
That should give you some ideas to start your fan fiction.
Also, Unless the main plot is over and it is the end of your book, it is not a good idea to knock off your main character in the middle of a book. Even J.K knew that. (;
