The Letter And Tears
Chapter 1
Hermione Granger was sitting out by the lake on the Hogwarts grounds studying when an owl flew by and dropped a letter into her lap. She looked at the letter confused because she recognized her mothers handwriting on the letter. her mother never wrote her while it was this close to the summer holidays. In a bit of a panic she opened the letter and scanned it quickly searching for why her mother had written her. Her vision started to blur as the tears began to fall down her face. She crumpled the letter in her fist and collapsed to her knees sobbing uncontrollably. How could this be true? How could they not have told her before? How could they abandon the child they raised? Hermione Granger had just found out that she wasn't a Granger.
Draco Malfoy was walking out on the grounds with Professor Severus Snape when they noticed that someone was in a ball on the shore of the lake. Both men immediately broke into a run to see if the person was alright, however they were surprise when they reached the girl that she was not hurt, but sobbing and that the girl was Hermione Granger.
" Miss Granger, come girl, get up. Come with us." Severus said helping her to her feet as Draco gathered her things and the open book nearby. Hermione did not fight the Professor as she had trusted him, she always has. Severus led the two teens to his office and sat them both down before warding the doors against anyone interrupting them or listening in. Severus had never seen this girl lose control like this and it had him very worried. He kneeled down in front of her and raised her chin gently to look at him.
" Miss Granger, what has gotten you so upset?" he asked
" I am not a Granger." She simply stated and handed him the crumpled letter.
Severus took the letter and read.
Hermione (Amethyst Skye, that's your real name)
You are not our daughter. Your Name as you have already seen by the greeting is really Amethyst Skye, we were never told your last name. You were brought to us when you were 2 weeks old by Albus Dumbledore and we were paid 1 million pounds to take you in and raise you. We cared for you even though we never really wanted to, but hey we needed the money. We have decided that we no longer want to deal with your world or you. We are not completely heartless, we are leaving you the house and the escalaide so you will have transportation and a place to live when you are not in Hogwarts. We will leave the vehicle at the station for you on the day you return from school because we are catching a train out of the country that same day. Do not look for us or contact us. Good luck with your life.
Jannie and John Granger
Severus handed the letter to Draco and wrapped his arms around the sobbing girl.
"What do you want to do now, dear?" He asked her gently.
" Sir, do you recognize the name that they said was mine?" She asked wiping her eyes.
" Yes, I do, very much. The question is are going to accept who you really were meant to be or are you going to keep being who you have believed yourself to be?"
" I always hated being Hermione. I am still the same person, but if I was stolen as a baby, My parents and I have a right to know each other and for me to go by my true name. I am Amethyst Skye, but I need to know where I came from. Sir please, You said you knew the name. Who am I?" she said
" You are my daughter." He answered quietly
" I am your daughter. Are you disappointed , sir?" she asked looking down at her hands. Severus took the girl into his arms and as tears rolled down his face he said.
" Never, my girl is the brightest witch of the age! I have been looking for you for many years and here you have been under our noses the whole time. I'm so sorry, sweetheart."
The girl wiped her face as she pulled away from her father and smiled. She took this chance to glace over at Draco and noticed tears were rolling down his face as well. She walked over and sat down next to him and touched his shoulder.
" Say something Draco, I hope that this revelation does not ruin our new found friendship."
Draco looked up at her and then wrapped her in his arms.
" I'm so sorry! I was such a prick to you all these years and finally when we start over and become friends you find out you were not who you thought. I have found you truly and now I can rid of Parkinson." he smiled
"Please, someone explain." she stated
" When the Malfoy's and Snape's found out that we were both expecting we made a magical betrothal contract. It stated that the first born male Malfoy and the first born Female Snape would marry upon turning 17 years of age. We made the contract for both of your protection.' Severus explained.
" The problem was you disappeared and then I was going to have to marry Pansy. But now that we have found that you are Amethyst I am free of her as our contract holds because you were not dead and it was made before we were born." Draco said taking her hand in his.
" Okay, that's fine, I understand now. I am already 17 though due to the use of the timeturner in my 3rd year. And I wish to tie up some loose ends as Hermione before I fully embrace being Amethyst Skye Snape." She said and thought for a minute before smacking her father on the ar. " YOU GAVE ME THE INTIALS A>S>S! Really!." She yelled at him.
Severus laughed and shook his head. " No, My sweet girl. Your full name Is Amethyst Skye Eileen Prince-Snape. As I am the last of the Prince line you Have my mothers name as well as Snape. "
She smiled. " Well, that's better. Now, about my taking my true name and form can we do it after term ends?" She asked.
"Of course my dear. It will give you time to finish the loose ends you mentioned and once we get out of Hogwarts we will deal with all the other things that need to be done. Now, here. Take the calming draught and this pepper up potion so you may feel better." He said handing her the vials and she took them.
It was going to be a long week, but her life she should have had all along would start as soon as she left Hogwarts for the summer. Little did she know just how different it would be.
