Chapter 1: Welcome to my world

Chapter 1
Have you ever played a fun game of Would You Rather with your friends or family? Then that question comes, 'would you rather know who you will marry or _______ (fill in the blank here, know what you will do, know what you will eat tomorrow, or what your future pet will be, anything works). Well where I come from that question is almost never asked, and if it is well.. its asked as a joke.

Welcome to my fantastic world! (If this wasn't a book you would see my eyes roll) In my roll we already know the answer to that question already. Thanks to Professor Clarkson we don't have to go through "stress of dating. This man who had had about 500 dates decided all he wanted was to know who he was gonna be with and end this whole affair. So then we have the Love Bands. At first they were sold at special stores for hundreds of dollars. Now the Hospitals all buy them and every baby born is given one for the rest of our lives. And then the new rules came out, we couldn't take them off. They were soon made out of a unbreakable material and a lock that's impossible to open.

These bands look into the future and figure out who you will end up with. Then the band glows with the name for the rest of your life. Or at least till you marry them, then you band will either say DONE or another name if you end up marrying again. Some people have the burden of their bands saying DONE the minute they are born.

Everyone loved this at the beginning. No more bad dates just find the one person your meant to be with and stay with them forever. However later years thought this was unfair, no point in dating was their perspective. However they eventually gave in. Except me,

Why do I have to just accept that this name on my arm is my soulmate? What if I don't love him? What if this guy is my worst enemy. Why does this band get to tell me I HAVE to marry him? When I was little I wasn't like this, I love my band. I used to stare at the name and dream about my guy. Then Grammy told me about how she met Grandpappy, and it wasn't because she had a band, it was pure love. Then I knew this "band" thing wasn't for me. So I trained myself to never look at the band or the name. I wanted to meet my true love in a real experience. Sadly people thought I was crazy. Every time I asked a guy out he would look at his band and shake his head.

"Sorry Arianna We aren't meant to be."

or

"Whats your name? Oh... yeah no."

or

"No thats not the name."

or

"Sorry we just don't 'click'"

And by click they mean "This band does not tell me that you are my soulmate. And even if I do like you I can't date you because this stupid little band runs my whole life!"

Or something like that..

So most people call them Love Bands but I call them "Date Killers".

Well anyway, it turns out these things did more harm to me than just ruining my love life. Which you will hear about. Welcome to my story about love, mystery, fear, and an awesome protagonist, me.

"Date Killers"

Oh, I mean..
