Bertie Bott
Chapter 3
Most witches and wizards know the name of "Bertie Bott" from a very young age. Bott is one of the most famous witches and wizards of our time - all from making a small mistake whilst creating candy.
Bertie Bott was born in 1935, and is still living well and happy to this day (presumably extremely comfortably due to his booming bean business). His claim to fame is the creation of the wildly popular candy, "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean." What few people know, is that the creation of Bott's famous beans was a complete (lucky) accident.
Bertie Bott was a confectioner from a very young age, having developed a love of the business from his father and grandfather. He dedicated years of his life to attempting to produce the most delicious candy and sweets knuts and sickles could buy. However, sometime in the mid 1900s (he has refused to admit to the exact date), Bott began experimenting with creating jelly bean flavors from food. During one of his experiments, a pair of his dirty socks was accidentally added to the concoction, resulting in a nasty surprise during the taste-test. Bott, however, proved his brilliance as a business man when he did not call the experiment a failure. Instead, it had given him a brilliant idea. What about selling candy where each flavor was a complete surprise?
Very soon afterward, "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans" was born. Bott released it with the tag, "a risk with every mouthful." As you may have guessed, Dirty Socks was one of the first flavors Bott piloted, along with peanut butter, candy corn, pumpkin pasty, cauliflower, cheese, cinnamon, cherry, caramel, strawberry, mango, and rutabaga, to name a few.
As the popularity of the treat continued to grow, Bott kept releasing more and more unique flavors such as ear wax (which dangerously resembled the caramel), dill pickle, vomit, dirt, and grass. As of the writing of this chapter, Bott seems to have stalled on new flavor releases - but there is not telling what he will think of next.
