Thank you for choosing to pick up Important Modern Magical Discoveries. As I'm sure you're aware, there are have hundreds of magical discoveries, even in recent history, made by brilliant witches and wizards (like yourself, I'm sure). As a result, the scope of this book must be limited to a manageable amount. Otherwise, we should have another travesty like Cornelius Catullus' "Brief History of the World."

This book shall only be covering the last 200 years of wizarding history, starting around the beginning of the 19th century. You may be thinking, "That's not modern! That's ancient!" for which I wish to remind you, that the history of the wizarding world is extremely long and extremely detailed and complicated. The last 200 years has been merely a drop in the bucket of our complete history. 

If you're looking for discoveries that are older, you will have to seek elsewhere. Depending on the success of this book, I may consider writing a sequel covering more of the historic magical discoveries. That, however, is literally a different story. So please reader, continue on! And may the witches and wizards that you meet in these pages inspire you to make your own important magical discoveries.
