Invisible Scrawlings

written by Eris Cross

Allow me to introduce myself - I'm Serena Maple. My mother's a muggle, my father's a wizard. I'm aware a lot of first years have started to write diaries, so feel free to pass this one up for a better one. However, I feel like I need (or want) to write this anyway.

First Year - Entry 3

Chapter 3

When I started writing this entry, I wrote this:

'It's an amusing coincidence that this is my third entry, now that I've started Lesson Three work. I'd just like to comment on how spectacular it is to actually be learning these subjects. My Defence Against The Dark Arts assignments are done, for this lesson.'

And, by now, all my Lesson Three work is done and my DADA work for Lesson Four is done and dusted. I'm now moving onto Astronomy, then History of Magic and then Charms. Last lesson, while enjoyable, was an awful lot of reading. However, I can hardly complain when I'm reading 'Pride and Prejudice' of my own volition. I'm not sure what to make of 'Magical Theory'. It's informative. Yet lengthy. I think my Charms notes for that lesson as the longest of all the lesson notes. Although, History of Magic is a close competitor.

That's something else I was wondering about - even if no one's listening. The new notebook feature. Do I transfer my notes? Can I keep them into next year? At the minute, they're in a fancy live-time-saving document on my Google Drive (muggle storage).

I've made some new friends. Two of those who attend this school are people I've met before, that I'd already become acquainted with online. Lucy and Delilah. I also met Jessica, Leora, Mailys and McKenna. All female so far but I haven't had time to mingle much with muggle work. Fortunately, all my most serious exams are over in that respect and I look forwards to catching up with my magical education. And practising my wandwork. Which, until now, I was quite persistent at.

Now my life story (bar any intricate details) is complete, I realise that I've lost my chance to be in the Daily Owl. Entirely my fault... I already follow various muggle pursuits, so I put it off. Then I had to concentrate on my muggle exams, so I put it off. I thought about it again yesterday. But I put it off because I truly wasn't sure. Regardless, it gives me more time to do other things.

If anyone's 'out there', with something in common (or not), I'd love to chat. So feel free to owl me. Or leave a review. That's it for now, I suppose...
