Chapter 8- Quadpot and its Origin
Chapter 8
Quadpot actually came from North America. Quadpot was a game that was invented in North America after Quidditch was invented. In fact, the reason that quadpot was invented was because a man named Abraham Peasegood wanted to create a team in America. He brought a quaffle over to America but it touched his wand during the trip.
When he took it out later he tossed it back and forth a few times and it exploded! He found this amusing and decided to make it into a sport!
In quadpot there are 11 players per team whereas Quidditch has only 7. The game itself actually reminds me of hot potato. The goal of the game is to throw the quad from player to player and attempt to get it into a pot at the end of the pitch. However, the players have to be careful because the quad will explode! If it explodes while a player is holding the quad- that player must leave the match. In order to keep it from exploding, there is a solution in the “pot” that keeps it intact.
In North America they still play Quidditch. However, it is not as popular due to the rise of quadpot. Likewise, in European countries quadpot is played but is much less popular than Quidditch.
