Chapter 12- The Chasers

Chapter 12
chasers have been around since the invention of quidditch. In fact, when it was invented, they were the only position! At the time when the game was invented they were called “catchers”. The job of the chasers is to pass the quaffle back and forth and get it through the goal hoops. Getting the ball through the hoops earns the team 10 points and is the only way to win other than catching the snitch.

chasers are normally very fast and good at dodging. Being a chaser can be quite rough since they are often targeted during gameplay. They also need to be able to aim well.

There are three chasers on a team. Historically women are often found in chaser positions however this is definitely not always the case. chasers are usually the ones that spectators pay attention to since they are the main part of gameplay and until a snitch is spotted the searchers are not doing very much.

There are quite a few rules surrounding the chasers. Only one can be inside the scoring area at a time. Otherwise they might attack the defender! They cant put any part of their bodies through the goal hoops since the quaffle is meant to be thrown.

Play-Along Activity- Would you be a good chaser based on the characteristics given? Why or why not?
