Chapter 10- Basic Fouls Every Quidditch Player Should Know
Chapter 10
There are 700 possible fouls in total but most of them are impossible to occur unless the ‘no wands’ rule is broken.
Most of the fouls are also not released because the ministry believes that releasing them will give players bad ideas.
Today I will go over the top 10 that have been released and are common.
First off, “blagging” means grabbing the end of someone's broom to slow them down or cause them to crash!
“Blatching” means flying with intent to collide. This basically means crashing into people.
“Blurting” involves crashing into another player's broom and trying to steer them off course.
Next is “Bumphing” which means throwing a bludger at the crowd.
“Cobbing” is likely one of my favorites because of its simplicity. It simply means “excessive use of elbows towards opponents”.
“Flacking” is sticking any body part through the goal hoops. This is aimed at the keeper because they are meant to guard from the front and not be inside the hoops.
“Haver sacking” is when a chaser doesn't let go of the quabble as it goes through the hoop. The quaffle is meant to be thrown.
“Quaffle-pocking” is simply tampering with a quaffle in any way.
“Snitchnip” is when any other player aside from the seeker touches the snitch
And finally “stoooging” is when more than one chaser enters the scoring area. This particular one was created in order to ensure that the games don't get too violent.
Play-Along Activity: Decide which of the fouls we learned about today instrests you or is your favorite. Then write a story about a time when this foul was called. It can be about you or a fictional character and you can use any writing style you would like.
