Topic of the Day to Discuss : Are we doing enough for our environment?

Chapter 9
"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed." - Mahatma Gandhi

It started with the Industrial revolution in the nineteenth century England. And in less than two centuries man has managed to deteriorate his own habitat - the Earth which is beautiful and fragile.

We can see the adverse effects of the whole idea of man making his own history.

Our environment is devastated and it is now high time that we do something about it. There has to be a collective effort in order to repair the damage which has already been done.

We need to protect our mother Earth for our future generations so that she will still be capable of providing shelter to them.

The point of alteration has reached its pinnacle. Natural imbalance is expanding as we witness an increase in global warming. The melting of glaciers, increase in pollution and the way new diseases are popping up everyday are directly impacting quality of human life.

The erosion of biodiversity has reached a level, unique in living organisms' history on Earth. Everyday, destruction of forests and slaughter of trees in the name of infrastructure development is reducing oxygen levels and threatening our lives.

No one can ignore this implacable fact that the Earth has reached an unprecedented point of vulnerability and now the damage is visible to the naked eye.

In the current situation,we have to accept our immense responsibility towards our future generations and stand in solidarity with them. We have no right to leave the heritage of our mistakes upon our children. If we don't take immediate actions, we will be guilty of non assistance towards the humanity that is in danger.
