Imaginative Incantations: A Non-Standard Book Of Spells

Imaginative Incantations serves as an encyclopaedic compendium of spells far beyond the standard coursework of magical education. Its collection ranges from the ancient to the cutting-edge, from the arcane to the commonplace. This tome is imaginatively put together to present the idiosyncratic nature of spell invention, as well as to inspire the reader to pursue their own journey in learning and magical experimentation. Last update: 3 May 2014 Hiatus until: 20 May 2014 (tentative) Upcoming updates: Spells for Chapter 7-9 (Fire and Water), possible illustrations on spell symbols! (Disclaimer: While strictly faithful to the primary canon, it is not so for semi-canon (movies, games). It does take many creative liberties in filling up the gaps, and I hope inspires your own imagination. This is a lifelong wish of having a complete spell book, hence the indulgent number of original spells. Hope you enjoy!) Tags: Charms, hexes, jinxes, curses, transfiguration, enchantments.

Light And Dark Iii – Nox Variants, Umbreo, And Other Darkness-Related Spells

Chapter 6

The name “darkness spells” is a slight misnomer, since the
majority of spells under this class do not truly cause darkness in its own
right. With the exception of Umbreo,
a true darkness charm, the charms in this class are variants of Nox, which serve to counteract Lumos and its variants. Therefore, these
charms are unable to artificially induce darkness in a naturally lit
environment.

Spell 6.1 – Noctotem, Total Extinguishing Charm

Wand gesture:Same
as Nox (4.2), two consecutive wrist flicks, clockwise then
counter-clockwise

Spell symbol: A broken Nox
crescent over a horizontal line

Difficulty: III

Relationship: Variant of Nox,
counterspell of Lumos (4.1) its variants (4.3-4.7), and other light-related spells (5.1, 5.2, 5.7)

Effects: Extinguishes sources of magical light within a
large area, be it wand conjured light or light from magical devices.

Spell 4.12 – Nyx, Nightfall Spell

(Also more commonly, the “Anti-Lumos Spell”)

Wand gesture: Same as Nox (4.2), two consecutive wrist flicks, clockwise then
counter-clockwise

Spell symbol:

Difficulty: VRelationship: Variant of Nox, antispell
of Lumos (4.1) and other light spells (4.3-4.7,
5.1-5.7)
Effects: Nyx is sometimes
also referred to as the Anti-Lumos Spell, where it prevents Lumos from being cast in an
area for a period of time until the spell is terminated. Again, this is a minor
misnomer, since other light spells also cannot be cast when Nyx is in effect.
Persistence, termination: Effects persist until the use of the counterspell, Hemera (4.13).

Spell 4.13 – Hemera, Daylight Spell

Spell 4.14 – Umbreo, Darkness Curse

(Also more obsoletely, the “Umbrasphere”)

Wand gesture:

Spell symbol: A filled crescent

Difficulty: III
