Chapter one: a brief history of the founders
Chapter 2
to unlock the secrets of Hogwarts, you must first understand its history. you must understand why the founders created the school, and why they laid down every brick, the purpose of every room. in this chapter, you will find a brief history of the founders story, and hopefully by the end you will feel a familiarity when you hear their names, a sense of acknowledgement .
the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry is a magical school locked away in the hills of Scotland. it was founded by four greats wizards and witches, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, Godrick Gryfiyndor, and Helga Hufflepuff. they formed the school united by the common goal of creating a safe place for young witches and wizards to learn.
Rowena Ravenclaw was a bright witch from the glens of Scotland. she was described as, "pretty but intimidating". she was said to have named the school, after an encounter with a warty wild boar in a dream. the hog in the dream led her to a cliff where Hogwarts now sits. she was also said to have come up with the moving floor plan found in the corridiors of hogwarts. she founded the house ravenclaw, which is considered the smart house.they value intelligence and creativity above all else, and their motto is "wit beyond measure is mans greatest treasure" her only known family is helena ravenclaw, who is also known as the grey lady. she resides at hogwarts, and is currently a ghost. she was murdered by the bloody baron because she stole the her mothers diadem, and rowena was said to have died of heart break. Any further questions can be answered by the grey lady at hogwarts.
Salazar Slytherin was a english wizard. he was described as "ancient and monkeyish", and is known for his abiliaty to speak parseltongue. he founded the house Slytherin, and selectively chose his students. he had a severe prejudice for muggle borns, and did not allow them in his house. he also chose students with resourcefulness, cleverness, and determination. he also chose students who had the ability to speak parseltongue. he left hogwarts after severe ties with godric grifyndor, and left behind a room called the chamber of secrets, built solely for the purpose of purging the school of muggleborns. the snake can only be controlled by the heir of slytherin, and has been killed by harry potter. however, the chamber is still there, and resides underneath the girls lavoratories. the only known family of salazar slytherin would be the gaunt family.
Godric Grifyndor was a english wizard born in Godric's Hollow.Gryffindor is said to have praised courage, determination and strength of heart above all other qualities. Indeed, he selected students for his house based upon their daring and bravery, according to the Sorting Hat. He also was the most in favour of allowing Muggle-borns into the school. He later enchanted the sorting hat, so the founder's houses could continue after their deaths. Gryffindor was initially a close friend of Salazar Slytherin, but over time their friendship deteriorated. After a number of years of working peacefully together, Slytherin eventually grew apart from his fellow founders due to his distrust of Muggle-borns, and his belief that they should not be accepted into Hogwarts.
Helga HufflePuff was a welsh witch from the wales.Hufflepuff helped to build the school and, while the other founders took students based on either ambition, bravery, or intelligence, Helga Hufflepuff took the rest, treating them all equally and teaching them all she knew, though she was particularly known to value loyalty, fair play and affinity for hard work. She brought people from different backgrounds together to help in the building of the school and was known for her charming ways.Hufflepuff favored loyalty, honesty, fair play, and hard work. Members of her Hogwarts House HufflePuff usually display at least one of these traits in varying degrees.
