Half-blood Hufflepuff
written by Brielle Evans
Brielle was a half-blood and she was a Hufflepuff. Here is her story of being proud of her house and her blood status. You don't have to be a Gryffindor to be brave, a Slytherin to be cunning or a Ravenclaw to be a good student. Hopefully Brielle's story changes the way you view people. As a side-note I am not saying that Hufflepuff is better than the other houses. They are all equally great and I shall try not to portray any of them in a unworthy manner.

The Letter
Chapter 1
I pressed my face to the window of the train as I searched vainly for a sign of Hogwarts. I slumped back into my seat with a sigh, the train trip was boring when you had no one to talk to. I grasped my wand nervously, the only thing that made any of this seem real. I could still remember the day when my letter arrived. I was in my treehouse reading, as usual, when my mother called me inside. "Look at this," she said beaming, "I knew you would make it". Having a witch for a mother and a muggle for a father I was never sure if I would get to go to Hogwarts. My mother never lost hope, always telling me I'd make it. I took the letter uncertainty, knowing this was a life changing decision. Going to Diagon Alley was a shock for someone who lived her entire life in the muggle world. But going to Ollivander's was magical, I was so excited when I discovered my wand was fir, twelve and a half inches, phoenix feather core, and unbending. I still didn't know what that meant exactly but it sounded cool. After buying robes, textbooks, some sweets and my very one owl Aira I was ready to board the train. As my parents gave me hugs and kisses goodbye, my mother whispered in my ear, " honey, when you get sorted into your house don't be ashamed if you get sorted into Hufflepuff." "I was a Hufflepuff and I believe that it is a house to be proud of." "So remember be proud of whatever house your in." I nodded, I would keep my mothers favorite words close to heart, "never judge a book or person by their outward appearance for many a rotting chest has gold within."
