Real Poems
written by Sally Buttercup
These aren't about unicorns and rainbows. We live in a real world, and our writings should reflect it. I will try to add a few pieces every day, and feel free to tell me if you want to add something.

Chapter 5
I am but a seventeen year old girl
I cannot change the world
one day I may be able to
but for now that power is beyond me
So I must look to the people with power
the people over voting age
the people who can make a difference
I must depend on them
But when I look outside my window
at these people with the power
their cars are running, their legs are moving
but they are all asleep
Sleeping away this madness
unfolding before their very eyes
ignoring the problems at hand
because why not just sleep through it?
I am but a seventeen year old girl
I cannot change the world
and when I look to the people who can
they are all asleep
I cannot change the world
one day I may be able to
but for now that power is beyond me
So I must look to the people with power
the people over voting age
the people who can make a difference
I must depend on them
But when I look outside my window
at these people with the power
their cars are running, their legs are moving
but they are all asleep
Sleeping away this madness
unfolding before their very eyes
ignoring the problems at hand
because why not just sleep through it?
I am but a seventeen year old girl
I cannot change the world
and when I look to the people who can
they are all asleep
