Chapter 2
As we walked down Charing Cross Road I felt eccentric. A new happiness seemed to fill my mum and dad. We walked into the Leaky Cauldron and cheers erupted. Everyone seemed to want to talk to me or shake my hand. I have no idea why. We went out to the wall where dad tapped the bricks. The wall melted away. I got my cauldron and my parchment. I got everything else except for an animal and a wand. " Well Sophs what animal do you want," Dad said. " Oooooh go with a cat they are so cute," Ashlyn's chessy voice rang out from behind me. How does Carter love her? " I think I will go with an owl," I said. " Oh," Ashlyn said sounding disappointed. She tries to change my life and perfect it all the time. When I was nine I woke up with her trying to dye and straighten my hair. We walked into Eelyop's Owl Emporium. I ended up getting a snowy owl. I named her Snowy. " Okay, time to get your wand," Dad said. A half hour later I had a wand that was: 17 inches, springy, willow, unicorn tail hair. We were in the Leaky Cauldron enjoying lunch while mum and dad were having a private conversation. Mum turned around looking pale white. Her face was tense and her light blue eyes were slits. Her mouth was one thin line. Dad looked just the same but his emerald green eyes had sadness in them. " Honey, there is something we have been keeping from you," Dad said sadly. I felt Ashlyn tense up beside me. " What is it. You guys are really scaring me," I said starting to fill uncomfortable. " Well the thing is we aren't your real parents," it seemed like mum had said it in slow motion. " What! I-I want to go home. If it is my real home," I said feeling like someone had just hit me with a stunning spell.
