Heartsongs
A selection of my own poems. Many of them have elements of faith, some are rather dark, and several of them are of a personal nature. Read at your own risk. Enjoy!! Reviews are welcome, no flames please!

Chapter 13
Bright
Cold
Impersonal
Thing
Alone
Not human
Worthless thing
Broken heart
Shattered life
No love, there
Only fear and pain
A child
A fragile thing
Terrified and humiliated
No comfort
An emotionless voice
“Compose yourself. Go back to class”
A child
Frozen at a door
Unable to go back like nothing happened
Child
Breaking at a friendly voice
A brave face
A life fallen apart
A family at odds
A child
Trapped
Scared
No escape
Loss upon loss
Fear and pain
Discord
Dark
Darkness
All is darkness
No light
No love
No hope
Deep
Pain
Swirling
Chaos
Darkness
A wandering soul
Trapped
Lost
Afraid
Where is the harmony of laughter?
Where is the love of a human?
Not human
A child
Just a number
Just a case to be solved
Years later
Still not human
Just a fragile cracked shell
Hiding
Afraid to get close
Afraid to lose the new family
Afraid
Alone
Trapped
Unable to reach out
A quiet voice
Crying
Where none can hear
A locked door
A closet
Stinging eyes
Silent
Tears tracing their way
Down quivering cheeks
The bitter taste of salt and copper
A knotted throat
A bitten cheek
A strangled cry in the middle of the night
Choked
For silence sake
No one must know
Just a shell
A child inside that shell
Needing touch
Fearing touch
Emotions
Locked away
A brave, smiling face
Emotions
Emotions of then
Fading, but still present
Apathy
Fear of feeling
Fading
Healing
Scents
Light
Swirling colors
In the breeze
Love
Joy
Peace
Hope
On its way
