Introduction

Chapter 1

As far back as we can remember potionmaking has been an essential skill that any witch and wizard has to know. These potions can vary from the incredibly simple to the extremely complex, but one thing remains the same: the importance of plants and herbs in the creation of general potions, cures, and antidotes.

Firstly I should explain how this book will work so that you can pick and choose certain sections if you so wish. The first part of the book will list various plants and herbs by properties, and ending with those which should be avoided when possible and what to do if you unintentionally come into contact with them.

One word of caution to my readers: When using potions or raw ingredients your digression is advised if the recipient has certain conditions e.g. expectant Witches should not potions containing the bitter ash plant. If in doubt consult either a well known herbologist or an experienced potion maker (if you are attending a school such as Hogwarts I advise you to approach either your potions master, the herbology staff, or visit the healthcare staff).
