“I told you what happened, but you don’t believe me ! How am I supposed to “talk sense into it”?” Felix glared at his governess. She hadn’t been here on the two nights of attack, she was still coming back from her long trip. His parents were dead, 3 years ago on Felix’s 10th birthday. They had both died of cholera. Felix had struggled then, being the oldest when Pearl, his older sister and the oldest, went to work in the farm. There were young that time, too young to take care of themselves. Pearl had been 13, Felix 10, and the twins, Ruby and Noah, had only been 3 years old. But 2 months later, his governess had been appointed as his guardian. She stayed home everyday and was always there when Felix and his brother and sisters came home. Felix looked at Ruby. Her brown-blonde hair and curved frown reminded Felix painfully of his mom. Expect for her violet eyes. That was a rare eye color to have. His governess sighed, and Felix turned back to his governess. “Noah told me that he would go with Pearl to work in the farm. I reckon they’re going to be here any moment.” His governess said. She was obviously not concerned with the situation. Felix finished his breakfast and hugged his governess goodbye. Closing the door, he walked his trembling little sister across the green plains to the town schoolhouse, watching the sun climb higher and higher as felix walked further and further away from home. Glancing at his sister, felix made his final decision: He was staying with Ruby tonight.
